If you love fashion, and think that over 700 pages of ads in a magazine that is just over 800 pages is nothing short of a fabulous thing – then you will adore The September Issue.
The real starts of this show are Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington. I have nothing but admiration for them both. They are leaders in their field and the way they complement each other is what makes American Vogue the industry bible. I could not help but marveling at the amazing creativity of Grace – the shoots that she puts together are inspiring. But you need a strong leader like Anna Wintour to pull something like that together.
My personal highlights of the film were seeing Ms Wintour with her daughter (she is human), her answer when asked what her best quality is “Decisiveness” and the fact that whilst painfully skinny, most people in the fashion industry look decidedly dull and wear pretty boring clothes (apart from Ms Wintour!).
This is a great film because you really feel like a fly on the wall of American Vogue whilst watching it. But I’d only recommend it for people already interested in fashion and magazines – I know that my boyfriend would have been asleep in the first 20 minutes if he would have come long!
